SARGENT’S PURCHASE, N.H. (WCAX) - The Mount Washington Observatory is getting a $1.5 million federal spending boost to continue its mission of weather forecasting and research from the Northeast’s highest summit.
The summit of Mount Washington is well known for recording the highest wind speeds in the country, and the Mount Washington Observatory studies that unique weather all year round.
During a visit on Tuesday, New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen fired up a brand new 13-person PistenBully tracked vehicle that will be used to take passengers to the Mount Washington Observatory during the winter months.
