There were two bat sightings at Hamilton Middle School within the facility Tuesday, leading the district to close the main building and relocate a scheduled meeting with parents.

Superintendent Dave Thennis said the district is selecting a contractor to do a professional evaluation of the building to determine how they got in.

“I'm pretty confident that we'll be in good shape,” Thennis said. “But I want somebody that knows that business to tell me that.”

Thennis said one bat was seen in the auditorium and there was another sighting elsewhere in the building, but it’s possible they were the same bat.
