HOUSTON – A full-time nurse was arrested by Houston police on Monday after her 1-year-old infant was found in an unlocked car while the mother ate inside of a restaurant.

Sally Zamora, 29, was charged with abandoning a child and granted a personal recognizance bond.

Witnesses called law enforcement around 3:55 p.m. on Monday when they discovered the vehicle with the doors unlocked and the baby inside at the restaurant off the Northwest Freeway.

According to court records, Zamora ate inside a Mambo’s Seafood restaurant with her husband and other children while she kept an eye on the infant using a camera inside the vehicle.

The temperature in Houston reached 97 degrees on Monday, according to the KPRC 2 Weather Team.
