ESTHERVILLE, Iowa ( KUOO /KTIV) - A former administrator at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville is suing the school, claiming she was fired in retaliation for whistleblowing.

Erin Latona, the college’s former Chief Academic Officer, says she was let go after reporting financial irregularities to the FBI and the State Auditor’s Office.

According to KUOO Radio, the lawsuit claims the college improperly granted federal aid, inflated enrollment numbers, and misused grant funds.

Latona’s lawsuit says she wants a jury trial and is seeking reparations for lost pay and emotional distress. She is also seeking possible reinstatement at the college.

The college president says the school will defend itself in court, KUOO says.
