A curious post on social media from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) generated outrage on Tuesday.
President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social about "great" nominees for the "Trump/Kennedy Center, whoops, I mean Kennedy Center, (sic) Awards." Graham replied to the post on X, where he said he is "all in" to help Trump remake the Kennedy Center. Graham also riffed on Trump's "whoops" bit in the post.
"Look forward to hearing from 48 — whoops 47 —about who will be this year’s Trump/Kennedy Center honorees," Graham's post on X reads in part. "I can’t wait to find out who these great Americans are."
Trump has repeatedly dodged questions about running for a third term, although some political analysts are not convinced he will sit out in 2028. The U.S. Constitution prohibits people from serving three terms as president.
Graham's nod to Trump becoming the 48th president earned some sharp criticism online.
"You poor, aged out lickspittle," Journalist Sandra Lee wrote on X. "John McCain would be disgusted by your moral turpitude."
"48? Goodness, you are a shameless piece of s---, @LindseyGrahamSC. Wow." conservative lawyer George Conway wrote in a post on X.
"Pathetic," journalist Michael McGough wrote on X.
"Oopsy! Can this guy get more pathetic?" journalist Salim Yaqub wrote on X.
"Lindsey Graham is a national disgrace," Vote 314, a political advocacy group supporting a challenger against Graham in the primary election, wrote on x. "Vote him out."
