Allston, Massachusetts —

Boston's Allston neighborhood is turning its most infamous residents into the unlikely stars of an upcoming arts festival. The Allston Rat City Arts Festival is Aug. 16, and to kick it off, organizers are bringing back a unique community outing.

"Big cheers to the first Allston Rat Walk!" said Ricky Meinke, a festival leader, to a cheering crowd at the 2024 Rat Walk. "This is amazing!”

Several dozen people joined Meinke, festival volunteers and members of Boston's Inspectional Services for the stroll. During the walk, attendees learned not only about rat behavior but also best practices for rat mitigation.
