REEDSPORT, Ore. - A fire has erupted 4.5 miles southeast of Reedsport, currently spanning an estimated 40 acres, according to the Coos Forest Protective Association.

CFPA officials said that a full response is underway, with assistance from the Douglas Forest Protective Association, United States Forest Service, and Oregon Department of Forestry's Severity Aircraft.

Residents are urged to avoid the Scholfield Road area. Although no homes are threatened, the situation remains under close watch.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
