OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha Metro Transit is launching their new Metro Flex service Wednesday. It works similarly to rideshare services and aims to address the “first and last mile problem” in public transportation.
Eighteen new vans will join Omaha Metro’s fleet on Wednesday. Metro flex will serve as an on-demand micro transit service to link all transit services directly.
“It really is something that is helping fill in the gaps between our existing fixed route network,” said Lauren Cencic, Metro Transit CEO.
To use the service, you can download their app, Metro Flex OMA, to call a vehicle to anywhere in their north, south, or west Omaha zones. From there, a driver will take you to a bus route or any other stop in that zone.
