GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids city commissioners passed a resolution Tuesday accepting the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, known as CAAP.
The plan is a roadmap to take long-term environmental initiatives, like making the city more energy efficient and eliminating net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Commissioners hope to do so without harming local business or inflating living costs — but some aren’t convinced.
“I think there's a lot of good pieces that will benefit much of our neighborhoods, but for those concerns ... that I haven't been able to bring myself to reconcile in my mind, I will not be supporting this today,” First Ward Commissioner Drew Robbins said.
