SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A fire in downtown Salt Lake City destroyed five buildings and caused almost $5 million in damages. Some of the business owners say they hope to rebuild.
On Monday night, a fire broke out in the London Belle restaurant in downtown Salt Lake City. It quickly spread to and damaged several other businesses, including the Whiskey Street bar, White Horse Bar, and the Los Tapatios Grill. Firefighter crews estimate that the fire caused over $5 million in damages.
Additionally, these buildings are historical. According to a collection of Salt Lake business owners known as the Downtown Alliance, the buildings date back to 1920 and have been culturally significant to the community for decades. • London Belle and Whiskey Street were both destroyed in the SLC downtown fire
