Pekin, Ill. (25 News) – One of the area’s most prominent movie theaters will say goodbye on Thursday.

25 News reports that the AMC Pekin 14 theater on Edgewater Drive will be closing.

AMC spokesperson Cassie Nichols told 25 News:

“AMC routinely reviews the theaters in our circuit, as well as opportunities outside of our circuit, and makes decisions based on what will best strengthen the Company going forward. We thank our Pekin 14 guests for their patronage and encourage them to continue enjoying the AMC experience at AMC Grand Prairie 18 and AMC CLASSIC Sunnyland 10.”

The theater first opened in 1999 under the name of “Showplace.” After shutting down during the COVID-19 pandemic, the AMC theater reopened in 2021.
