An Alaska State Trooper is currently on administrative leave following a deadly shooting in Wasilla.

Trooper Nicholas Blanchard, who has served with the Alaska State Troopers for just one year, was involved in the shooting on Friday, August 8th.

Troopers were attempting to arrest 32-year-old Charles Hedgers on an outstanding parole warrant. When they reached Hedgers, he barricaded himself inside a motorhome and was reportedly armed with a handgun.

Trooper Blanchard then fired his weapon, fatally wounding Hedgers.

Now, state authorities are reviewing the incident to determine whether the use of lethal force was justified.

The investigation is ongoing, and we will continue to follow this story as more details become available.
