EUGENE — Oregon safety Trey McNutt had surgery on his broken right leg, but could still see the field this season.
Ducks coach Dan Lanning said McNutt, a five-star recruit ranked No. 2 among safeties in last year’s class, is on the road to recovery from a “kind of a freak” injury.
“It’s something we think he’ll be able to come back from this season,” Lanning said following Tuesday’s practice. “Sooner than later, but I don’t want to put a timeline on that. Trey is handling that unbelievably. He’s working his ass off to get back. He’s staying engaged in the playbook. He’s preparing himself. He was having a really good fall camp.”
