Cindy Myrex has won the Republican nomination for House District 12.

A primary runoff was held Tuesday between her and opponent Clint Hollingsworth. Though the two were neck-and-neck in the primary election on July 15, Myrex won the runoff handily with nearly 59% of the vote.

Out of 5,208 ballots cast, Myrex received 3,048 to Hollingsworth's 2,160.

Alabama Republican Party chief of staff Shannon Whitt issued the following statement about the race:
