DEEP RIVER, Conn. — After six years of creating a safe and inclusive environment for neurodivergent young adults, The Nest Coffee House in Deep River will permanently close its doors on Aug. 22.

Founded by Jane Moen, The Nest has become a fixture in the community, known not just for its coffee but for its mission.

“It’s interesting because when you ask how many people The Nest has impacted or served, we consider it everyone who walked through our door,” Moen said. “Because everyone who came through learned about neurodiversity.”

Over the years, The Nest has supported 60 interns and more than 100 employees — all while promoting kindness, acceptance and understanding. A large jar inside the shop holds handwritten notes from customers expressing gratitude and admiration.
