FRESNO, Calif. (KGPE) - The Perseids are visible every year from mid-July until the end of August. This meteor shower is typically very active for us in the Northern Hemisphere. This year, however, it will be tough to see as many meteors as we will be contending with the brightness of the moon.
Moonrise is at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, but if you try to watch for meteors before then, they may be too far below the northern horizon.
Peak meteor shower activity will start around midnight, and the moon will be bright. Look up, and slightly toward the north and northeastern sky.
Temperatures will be comfortable tonight to stay outside for hours, and we'll be in the 70s for much of the overnight hours.
Because of the moon, sky watchers may only have the opportunity to see 10-25 meteors per hour. Thi
