ARLINGTON -- Ketel Marte belted a 445-foot home run in the ninth inning to send the Diamondbacks to a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Rangers on Tuesday night.
Marte stepped to the plate right after manager Torey Lovullo was ejected for arguing a called third strike on Geraldo Perdomo. But Lovullo surely didn’t mind watching Marte’s blast from the clubhouse as his All-Star second baseman turned on a 1-2 sweeper from Rangers reliever Danny Coulombe.
It was the 22nd home run of the season for Marte and the first homer allowed by Coulombe this season.
The Diamondbacks never led until Marte’s long ball.
They erased a 1-0 deficit on a solo home run by Blaze Alexander in the third inning. Trailing 2-1 going into the seventh, Arizona tied it on an infield single by Marte.
