HONOLULU (Island News) -- A new Downtown Business Improvement District could soon be established in Honolulu, similar to the existing Waikiki Business Improvement District.

The potential district aims to provide supplementary services in Downtown Honolulu to enhance safety, cleanliness and community engagement.

The big take away from the meeting for business owners from throughout downtown Honolulu was supplementary services.

A lot of references were made to the Waikiki Businesses Improvement District—those in brightly colored vests walking around Waikiki, cleaning, offering directions and just being another set of eyes out on the road for police.
