GREEN BAY — Malik Willis isn’t sure how long his stint as the Green Bay Packers No. 1 quarterback will last. He wasn’t even thinking about that on Tuesday afternoon.

But for however long starter Jordan Love is sidelined following surgery to repair damaged ligaments in his left thumb, Willis intends to seize the day — for as many days as he’s running the first-string offense.

That’s what he did during last year’s whirlwind, when he was traded from the Tennessee Titans to the Packers — and was starting the Packers’ Week 2 game against the Indianapolis Colts just 19 days after the trade because of a knee injury Love sustained in the regular-season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.
