The deadline to register your wood-burning fireplace or stove is approaching.

Metro Vancouver is reminding residents who want to continue using these devices to register wood-burning fireplaces by September 15.

Metro Vancouver says the registration is free.

This bylaw, which was introduced in 2020, is designed to protect the area’s air quality and decrease wood smoke emissions.

Failure to register by the deadline will result in the prohibition of using unregistered wood-burning appliances in urban zones after that date.
