Mesa Public Schools students could soon have another test to prepare for – one that assesses their endurance, core strength and agility.

The Presidential Fitness Test is coming back to public schools – although it’s unclear when under an executive order signed recently by President Trump.

“Mesa Public Schools is awaiting guidance and details,” said district spokeswoman Jennifer Snyder, who declined to comment on the district’s reaction to the order.

As it is in the district, physical education is required for K-6 students with seventh-graders and eighth-graders each having one semester of gym class.

“Additionally, two semesters of elective physical education in high school are mandated for graduation,” Snyder said.
