Remarkable baseball run ends for Watertown Post 17's senior group

WATERTOWN — The final days of a remarkable six-year ride didn't go the way the seniors on the Watertown Arrows Post 17 baseball team wanted.

Still, a 1-2 performance in the first state Class A American Legion Baseball tournament held in Watertown since 1991 can't diminish what the team's eight seniors accomplished during their Watertown Baseball Association (13-and-above) careers.

The seniors won South Dakota Class A Baseball state titles in 2020 (13-and-Under) and 2021 (14-and-under), reached the semifinals in the 2022 Class A Junior Legion state tourney and even took third in the 2024 State A American Legion tourney with a 46-25 record — the second most wins in program history.
