Nicola Sturgeon has been accused of "besmirching a man now dead" by attacking Alex Salmond in her new book. ‌

Kenny MacAskill, a former SNP Justice Secretary, claimed his former colleague had "demeaned the office of First Minister" with some of the contents in Frankly, her political memoir out this week. ‌

Sturgeon revealed in the book she had come to the realisation that her former friend and mentor “wanted to destroy me” - and claimed her relationship with the late politician began to deteriorate as soon as she became first minister in 2014 in the wake of the independence referendum. ‌
