AVOYELLES PARISH, La. (KALB) - A man whom the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office has dubbed the ‘Limestone Bandit’ was arrested on August 8.
According to APSO, Chancey Johnson , 34, of Marksville, was charged with theft of public property and criminal damage to property.
A responding deputy located evidence of the theft, including large gouges in the new limestone road. APSO said the investigation led the deputy to a nearby residence and a suspect, Johnson.
At the residence, the deputy located a tractor and freshly moved limestone in a barn that matched the material from the public roadway. APSO said Johnson admitted to taking the limestone.
Johnson was booked into Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office Detention Center #1. The bond was set at $1,000, which was posted, and he was released
