RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB) - An inmate who was part of a work crew tried to escape on Thursday morning, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The inmate was reporting for duty at the Police Jury compound on Esler Field Road near Libuse Cutoff Road around 6:56 a.m. on August 14.

The inmate tried to escape, but RPSO and a Corrections K-9 found the inmate in the woods within about seven minutes.

The inmate was arrested and was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center. No further details on the incident were provided.
