Back in the day, before public broadcasting became a conveyor belt for the bromides of leftist culture and politics, PBS aired some truly remarkable and memorable programs. An example is Nobel Laureate Milton Friedman’s ten-part series “Free to Choose,” which was broadcast in 1980.

Friedman aimed to reach a large audience for the thesis that economic freedom leads to prosperity and is a pre-condition for political freedom. Friedman was an advocate for capitalism in a liberal society, who observed that capitalism had created prosperity and freedom at level unimaginable before.
