A vast expanse of the UK is bracing for a deluge as stormy weather threatens to disrupt the fourth heatwave of the summer.

WXCharts' weather maps reveal wet and blustery conditions sweeping across a 765-mile stretch of the UK from Saturday, 23 August.

The disruptive weather is set to primarily affect northeastern Scotland, areas along the eastern English coast and the southwest.

This follows the UK's fourth summer heatwave, with amber heat health warnings issued after temperatures soared to 33.4C on Tuesday, 13 August.

The rainy front will start its journey across the country in the early hours of 23 August, bringing a blanket of cool and drizzly weather stretching from Wick in northeastern Scotland to Plymouth in the southwest.
