CROCKERY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 15-year-old girl was killed Tuesday night in a crash in Crockery Township, deputies say.

It happened around 10:25 p.m. on State Road west of 112th Avenue.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's office, an 18-year-old Nunica man was driving on State Road with a 17-year-old girl from Coopersville in the front seat and two 15-year-old passengers — a boy from Nunica and a girl from Coopersville — in the rear cargo area of the vehicle. The 15-year-olds were not restrained, according to authorities.

Deputies said the driver lost control and hit a tree. The 15-year-old girl was ejected.

First responders tried to save her life, but she died on scene, according to the sheriff's office. Her name was not immediately released.
