Strikes are due to take place at Gatwick Airport throughout the end of August, potentially causing major disruption for tourists across the final few weeks of the summer.

The walkout is due to take place from August 22 to 26, while a second for baggage screeners will happen between August 29 to September 2.

Unite the Union has indicated that industrial action will escalate if a deal is not reached.

The union said all flights out of Gatwick will face disruption during the planned periods.

Unite regional officer Ben Davis said employer "ICTS is entirely responsible for the disruption that will be caused to Gatwick passengers during the strike action."

He added: "It can well afford to put forward an acceptable pay offer and that is what needs to happen.
