PITTSTON, Pa. — Tomatoes are in season in our gardens right now but they are always ripe in Pittston. The community is getting ready for its 42nd Tomato Festival.
"We have four days full of fun and so many tomatoes," Committee Member Sarah Cianfichi said.
The Pittston Tomato Festival starts next Thursday. There will be a 5K, a parade, live music, and more.
"We have a tomato contest, a spaghetti eating contest and actually new this year a polar plunge sponsored by the Special Olympics on Saturday and a hot pepper eating contest sponsored by the League of Fire," Cianfichi said.
There will be more than 40 food vendors.
"Everyone has a tomato-themed food. We're also having some tomatoes in the lot with our craft vendors and there's just something for everybody. We have rides for the ki
