The union representing some 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants has signaled its intent to strike as of this weekend.
Air Canada says negotiations with CUPE have hit an impasse, prompting the 72 hour strike notice which would bring flights to a halt as of 12:01 a.m. EST Saturday.
The strike would also impact those flying under the Air Canada Rouge banner.
The union asserts its workers are getting paid “poverty wages,” while the company argues it’s latest offer was sufficient in offering a 38 per cent pay increase over four years. Air Canada says its latest offer also included plans to address the issue of flight attendants not getting paid when the aircraft isn’t in the air.
