A New York man who reportedly sent over 1,000 text messages and made threatening phone calls to a Connecticut resident received probation on Monday.
Elijah Whyte, 30, of White Plains, New York, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley in Bridgeport to five years of probation, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office . He previously pleaded guilty to making repeated harassing telephone communications on May 16.
Court records show that, between August and October 2023, Whyte reportedly sent a Connecticut resident 1,330 text messages, made 72 phone calls and left three voicemails.
“Many of the messages were threatening and harassing, discussing the victim getting killed and raped, the victim’s children and the victim’s home and hometown,” officials said.
