A football fan was glassed during a Warwickshire derby on Tuesday evening. Atherstone Town hosted neighbours Nuneaton Town in a closely contested 2-1 victory for the away side at Sheepy Road.
Local officers attended the evening which saw over 1,200 fans crammed in to watch the league match. Police say the game was watched by 'fans in good spirit,' no doubt helped by the fact it was segregated.
But things turned nasty after the full time whistle and there was disorder outside of the ground.
A spokesman for Atherstone and Coleshill Police said: "Officers attended Atherstone FC vs Nuneaton FC yesterday evening. A great turnout from both sides, with just shy of 1300 attending the game in total. Fans were in good spirits before and during the game, which ended with a 2-1 victory for
