KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Three people are in the hospital Wednesday morning after a building went up in flames in the heart of Westport.

Fire crews and an Evergy truck are currently on scene working to extinguish the fire at the building between Pennsylvania Avenue and Westport Road.

It's right next to Buzzard Beach and a couple of other businesses. Firefighters could be seen using water from the truck to put out the fire inside the building.

According to the fire department, three people have been taken to the hospital.

FOX4 is live at the scene, where smoke can be seen coming out of the windows. A family was seen being treated outside the building.
