OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – A 15-year-old Coopersville girl was killed late Tuesday, Aug. 12, when she was ejected from a vehicle that crashed into a tree.

Her name has not been released. Three others were uninjured, Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies said.

The crash was reported at 10:24 p.m. on State Road west of 112th Street in Crockery Township.

The investigation showed that the teen and a 15-year-old Nunica boy were riding in the rear cargo area without seat belts. The driver lost control of the vehicle on State Road, causing it to crash into a tree on the side of the road.

Upon impact, the victim was thrown from the vehicle.

Sheriff’s deputies, Crockery Township firefighters and ambulance paramedics attempted life-saving efforts but the girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
