Sam Thompson has revealed how he responded to his ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott "hard launching" her relationship with Louis Tomlinson on social media. The Made in Chelsea star and Love Island contestant split in December 2024 after five years together, and she was romantically linked to the former One Direction singer a few months later. After months of speculation, Zara made her relationship with Louis Instagram official earlier this month by sharing a selfie of them locking lips for the camera. Addressing the Instagram post on his Staying Relevant podcast this week, Sam revealed that he was inundated by so many messages that he feared "the worst". "I'm watching some YouTube video and my phone just starts blowing up. I thought I'd been cancelled!" he recalled. "Mate, it's dinged up, you know when everyone is like, 'Just checking in mate, is everything OK?' and I'm looking at my phone like, 'What is going on?' And genuinely, you know what it's like when you don't quite know what's happened, so you think the worst." Summing up his thoughts on the situation, the 33-year-old added, "Tell you what though, I wouldn't wish a hard launch on my worst enemy though." Months after his split from Zara, Sam moved on with another Love Island alum, Samie Elishi, however, that romance lasted only a couple of months. Earlier this week, the I'm A Celebrity winner revealed that he'd signed up for dating app Hinge. "I'm on Hinge everybody. I have decided to give dating apps a go, because the dating world is the trenches out there and I need a bit of help," he told listeners on his Hits Radio show.
