A new weather system dropping down from western Canada will give Portland the heat relief it needs Wednesday dropping high temps about 13 degrees from Tuesday’s (unofficial) high of 99.6.

The National Weather Service says onshore flow will strengthen Wednesday and high pressure will break down bringing a deeper marine cloud cover to the coast and cooler temps inland.

Portland won’t see many clouds Wednesday, but the high temperature will likely hit about 86 degrees. Winds may be breezy at times gusting to about 18 mph.

Clouds increase overnight as a new upper-level trough moves in from the Gulf of Alaska. Onshore flow will be even stronger with this system and Portland will see clouds to start, and rain before the work week is done.
