Potential thunderstorms were expected to roll into the New York metro area Wednesday, capping off a hot start to the week and cooling things off before the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, a frontal system approaching from the west will bring chances of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., with higher chances of rain starting around 5 p.m.
