OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - On this day in history, in 1974, what is now known as The Rose Theater was listed in the National Register of Historic Places .
The current Rose Blumkin Performing Arts Center opened in 1926 as The Riviera. The theater was a highly elegant entertainment facility at that time.
It fell on hard times in 1929, but had shows, concerts, movies, even a bowling team throughout the years before it became what we all know it as today: a place where young people can express themselves through art and performance.
It’s of course named after Rose Blumkin, founder of Nebraska Furniture Mart .
