A man was arrested this week on four counts of attempted first-degree murder arson, accused of breaking into a home and dousing it with gasoline while four juveniles were inside, according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
Nobody was injured in the fire, BRFD said.
Alfred Jarvis Sr., 46, allegedly broke into the house in the 2500 block of Inverrary Drive in the early morning hours of Aug. 12 to set the fire.
"Witnesses, including juvenile occupants, reported that they heard the door being kicked in, smelled gasoline, and saw two areas on fire as they exited the home," BRFD said. "Multiple witnesses also reported hearing Jarvis — whom they stated they knew — yelling 'everyone is going to die' while setting the fires."
