What does it take to get 30 chefs out of their kitchens on a Friday night?

An evening with the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society , apparently.

For the 18th annual Fête Rouge tasting and competition, more than 30 restaurants and 250 wines will be featured Aug. 22 at L'Auberge Casino and Hotel in Baton Rouge. The culinary celebration is one of four events that the Epicurean Society hosts throughout the year to support childhood health, nutrition and education programs.

"This is really a way for the chefs to shine, to come out from behind the stove," said president Yvette Bonanno. "They work on their menus every single day in and day out. This (Fête Rouge) kind of stretches their wings a little bit."
