FARMERS BRANCH, Texas — A Carrollton police officer shot a man who is accused of threatening to shoot officers after a traffic stop Tuesday night, police said.
The man, identified as Keith Kemp, of Paris, Texas, was in critical condition Wednesday morning, according to a police news release.
The incident started around 9:45 p.m. in the 2700 block of East Belt Line Road in Carrollton, police said.
Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and then "developed reasonable suspicion of narcotics activity," according to the release. While officers investigated, Kemp brandished a gun "and threatened to shoot himself," the release said.
