PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - It has been nearly 75 years since a young soldier from Perry County was reported missing in action during the Korean War.

On Tuesday, Rodger Fields was back on American soil.

Fields joined the U.S Army when he was 18 years old in 1948. Two years later in December, 1950, Private First Class Fields was reported missing in action during a battle in the Vicinity of Chosin Reservoir in North Korea.

The next day, Dec. 2nd, it was determined from witnesses that Fields was killed in action.

In January of 1956, the Army declared Fields’ remains to be non-recoverable. To honor him, his name was etched into The Courts of The Missing at The National Memorial Cemetery of The Pacific in Hawaii.
