It's been in release for less than 20 days, but Marvel's The Fantastic Four: First Steps is already losing steam at the box office. In fact, it was on a downward spiral after its second weekend in theaters, when it registered a concerning drop in collections. The Fantastic Four remains Marvel's biggest bet of the year , and a lot was riding on the film's success following the commercial underperformance of Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts* . The movie had a strong-enough debut, but it petered off almost immediately. That said, it has now overtaken both its predecessors, in addition to Marvel's two big releases of 2021.
