Diana Ross will no longer appear at Royal Caribbean's Star of the Seas ' showcase cruise

In June, the 81-year-old singer was named "godmother" of the brand new ship

The announcement comes just days before Ross is set to begin her Beautiful Love tour on Aug. 16

Diana Ross will no longer appear on Royal Caribbean ’s Star of the Seas showcase cruise later this month.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Diana Ross will be unable to appear," a representative for the singer, 81, said in a statement to PEOPLE.

The announcement comes two months after the “I’m Coming Out” hitmaker was named the official "godmother" of the Icon Class ship in June.
