The New York Mets are calling up top pitching prospect Nolan McLean from Triple-A Syracuse to start Saturday's game against the Seattle Mariners, according to multiple reports on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old right-hander will take the spot of Frankie Montas, who was demoted to the bullpen after a disastrous eight-game debut with the Mets in which he posted a 6.36 ERA. He signed a two-year, $34 million deal to join the club over the winter.

McLean, who is ranked as the Mets' No. 3 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline, has been dominant in the minors, beginning in Double-A Binghamton. After going 3-1 with a 1.37 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 26.1 innings pitched, he was called up to Triple-A, where he continued to roll.
