NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk International Airport will close crosswind Runway 14/32 to all takeoffs and landings on Friday as part of its $1 billion “ Transform ORF ” modernization program.
Airport officials say the closure is necessary to support a series of ongoing and future development projects at the facility. The nearly $1 billion effort includes a new international arrivals facility, aimed at improving the travel experience for passengers arriving from abroad.
The project also involves site preparation for a future Consolidated Car Rental Facility, which will be located south of the Departures Terminal. In addition, crews will straighten a curved road near Robin Hood Road, following the planned closure of the airport’s seldom-used Runway 14/32.
