A former national watersports centre in Ayrshire is set to go under the hammer next week. ‌

The National Watersports Centre on Cumbrae closed in 2020 and is now set to be sold at auction on Thursday, August 21 with a guide price of £275,000. ‌

SportScotland operated the centre for over 40 years before its closure and marketed the property for £550,000 but were initially unable to find a buyer. ‌

The centre was under offer when planning permission for a leisure and tourism site including a refurbished water sports centre, lodges and 34 glamping pods was applied for in June 2024.

North Ayrshire Council granted the application by Alan Howat and Micheal O' Connor earlier this year.

The centre is located on the eastern shore of the island, facing Largs and just 400m from the ferry
