CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WV News) — The West Virginia Board of Education on Wednesday voted to have legal counsel draft a letter to the West Virginia Charter School Board regarding student immunization policy.

According to the motion, made by board member Debra Sullivan, the letter will be sent "to ensure that public charter schools are in full compliance with the state board's directive" to comply with the state's compulsory vaccination law.

The board's directive does not accept religious exemptions to vaccinations submitted to the Department of Health as directed by an Executive Order issued by Gov. Patrick Morrisey in January.
