LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — A Nevada State Police trooper was injured in a hit-and-run on the I-15 late Tuesday night.
The crash occurred near Russell Road just after 11:40 p.m. The investigation shut down the freeway for hours.
Police say the driver ignored traffic control that was in place for an earlier crash that troopers were investigating near a construction zone.
The driver hit a patrol vehicle and fled the scene, according to the state police news release.
The trooper inside the vehicle was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and was subsequently released and will be returning to duty, officials said.
The driver was later found and arrested for driving under the influence, police said.
Lanes have since reopened.
